The Italian-American E! Network TV personality, 43, revealed in October 2011 that she had begun a battle with breast cancer, detected while she was preparing for in vitro fertilization. “I wasn’t prepared to get a mammogram until I was 40 years old, like I’d been told,” she told E! She had a mastectomy. Last December, she celebrated five years cancer-free. “Now that I’ve reached this critical milestone,” she wrote on Instagram, “the odds of the breast cancer coming back are not gone but exponentially lower. Breast cancer is more of my history, less of my present, but that doesn’t mean I am leaving this battlefield.”
