Update: In a recent Good Morning America interview, Trebek announced that he is undergoing another round of chemotherapy after doctors noticed he lost a lot of weight and his numbers went sky high.” These numbers, he says, were much higher than they were when I was first diagnosed.

Earlier this year, when Alex Trebek was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer, he reassured fans he would beat the disease because he still had three years left to host Jeopardy! Now, Trebek is back on set taping season 36 of the popular game show, CNN reports.

“I’ve gone through a lot of chemotherapy, and thankfully that is now over,” said Trebek in a recent video posted on the Jeopardy! YouTube channel and shared on social media. “I’m on the mend, and that’s all I can hope for right now. [View the minute-long video above.]

The news comes after Trebek announced in May, just two months after his diagnosis, that he was in “near remission.” Trebek likely meant that he was in partial remission, meaning his cancer was partly responding to treatment but still hadn’t been eradicated.

At the time, Trebek also said he was responding well to chemo and had plans to undergo several more rounds in the hope that his cancer would go into full remission.

On social media, fans, including former Jeopardy! champ James Holzhauer, reacted to Trebek’s announcement with wit, excitement and joy. [Check out their reactions below.]

“We have some exciting things coming up, and I can’t wait to share them with all of you,” Trebek told Jeopardy! fans in the video. “Let me tell you, it’s going to be a good year.”
